Going back to Chandigarh, the place where I did my pre-engineering studies, was quite an experience. They don't just call it The City Beautiful, they say it, because it is...
Coming to the cafe experience, I think the newly opened Elante Mall and particularly its courtyard holds the key of some amazing cafes. One of them is Backpacker's Cafe.
Backpackers Cafe is one of the most beautiful cafes that I have seen. And even though the excessively close tables try to disrupt the beauty of the place, it still remains one of the best looking cafes. It is a small cafe with nothing much to do with the idea of the travel, but a few travel related posters and antiques give a nice feeling. So I won’t say it is a travel cafe, but just a regular cafe with Travel theme.
The location is pretty amazing. Elante Mall. And a hell lot of people visit this mall, not just on weekends but weekdays as well. In the courtyard part of this mall, you will find a number of options to choose from. Backpackers Cafe is one such option, located right beside the Girl In The Cafe.
Talking about the interiors, as I have already mentioned, they are marvellously done. Each antique object (travel related) that they have placed on the shelves or on the walls, is more beautiful than the other. The furniture also looks quite amazing. And the beauty was reflected in their menu also. A newspaper style menu was as cool as it could be.
I had pasta salad with pesto sauce, and it was very nicely prepared. Very few chefs know the art of perfectly balancing the quantity of salt, cheese, sauce and pasta. And this was definitely one of those few chefs. Each bite of the salad was wonderful, just wonderful.
The service was nice too. The staff is friendly and very professional. And since it is a small place, they are always around.
The price might be on the higher side, that is expected, but the quality of the food and the overall experience here is simply great.
I hope I would come back here and try other things as well. Till then, Cheers!
